SNAP in New York

As you see in this chart, the amount of people on SNAP is increasing every year, this means more and more people will be affected during these cuts, this can mean that children going to school are hungry and many parents will not be able to provide for their families. 

What is SNAP?

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is a form of assistance for low income families to buy food. This program was formerly known as the food stamp program but was changed in 2008 because the program wants promote healthy and nutritional eating to families.

This is what the card looks like, many used to feel uncomfortable using actual stamps to buy food, they changed it to a card that works much like a debit card called the EBT (electronic benefit transfer). You can swipe it just like debit or credit card.
