Food Stamp Recipients see Cuts

For people to be worried about whether or not they can afford what everyone seems to think are household necessities is so awful. So many families will be left with no money for food, the big question I have is where is this money going? As much research as I have done I found very little information on it, I think that should be the first thing that should be weighed out. Is where this money going worth taking out of families hands and all together mouths.

Fact VS Fiction

Those who are not on food stamps or are a part of SNAP may believe that the people who are a part of this program are misusing their assistance. What I found the most profound is that those on this program can not purchase tobacco products, alcohol, or prepared food. I find it odd that on this program you can not purchase prepared food because say a family of four has working parents or live in a single parent home, they may not have the time to prepare food, so in my opinion, they should be able to purchase a rotisserie chicken or something along those lines.

Food for Thought

The fact that according to the Congressional Budget Office, that about 1/2 of adults are going to be on food stamps sometime during their lifetime is unacceptable. I think wages should be sustainable enough to feed a person. I understand if there are others, including family members, relying on you for food assistance, in these cases there should be aid available, but to have half of the adult population on food stamps really proves that food prices are too expensive for the average person to live.

Children are greatly affected by food stamp cuts, without these cuts yet, one in five children sometimes don't have enough money to buy food. This angers me extremely, not only because children need food to survive, they need it to focus in school and to go about their every day lives. Children do not have a choice to go to work for food, they are children, they need to have a stable life. What they are eating for there next meal should not be their main concern, they should not have to go to bed hungry.
